as i posted before my girl bought me skid plates for xmas. but today going to install them at the mechanic found out that they are the wrong plates. so i called local jeep dealer and he looked things up by vin# for me. he found front plate and transfer plate but no transmission plate. can anyone please help me with a part # for the mopar tranny skid for my 2003 kj. as i can order the front and transfer local, but was told the front and the tranny depend on each other. dont know if this is true but i would like a mopar skid since it seems to be the cheapest route. please help a guy out

you have to drill a hole in it to match up with the holes on the frame |

Steve, Mopar has stopped doing Transmition plate for KJ 02-04, you will only find 05-07 at Mopar, so you will need to modify and drill extra hole to fit it onto the crossmember below. Fil. |

Steve ... first ..... quit beatin your head against that wall ^^^ No one is screwing with you ..... really! Your mechanic is correct, only 3 of the four holes line up. That's what the other posts are saying is ... you have to drill a new hole!!

dont know if you can really see it, but ![]() the red dots are where the nuts go to hold it in, 2 on the engine skid...one actually goes through both, the other does not, the tranny skid is just wedged in there. on the back, the 2 red dots show where you have to put the nuts, but one of them is not close to the hole, so i drilled my own hole (the green arrows show where the hole is) sorry, its a cell phone pic from a while back. and what i did for the hole, i used a center punch when i lined it up under the jeep then drilled

And I did mine differently than his Transfer case skid, no problem bolted right up trans skid held it up and drilled four holes , 2 front , 2 rear where the stock holes were no over lap at the rear trans and transfer case butt together engine skid bolted right up with 4 bolts in stock location doesn't look like his has the little ( fingers) sticking out mine did and put those so they just touched the cross member so just barely under the front skid |

Let me make sure I've got this straight ..... When talking about using the '05-07 skids on a '02-04 you're drilling the new hole in the skid plate, not the chassis of the Jeep ?? Right ?? Been wanting to get a set of skids, but not wanting to poke holes in the undercarriage to mount them. If I just need to relocate 1 hole on the plate itself to get it mounted then no problem.. |
