I've had the same issue with the steam but only when its cold. It did it yesterday but my temp was 199.4. I would like to know what it is too.. I was kinda worried but since no CEL or overheating I figured it was because of the cold

i'd get it pressure tested to make sure there are no leaks or identify where they are. don't want a minor leak becoming worse when you are least ready to deal with it.

Rather common issue on Jeep radiators in extreme cold temps. The side tank seals shrink so much that they leak a little in the very cold but once warmed up they do not leak, after a few cycles of this the side tank seal will just fail all together.

Same issue happened to my 2nd radiator(CSF brand),just a few drops here and there then one cold day all my coolant exited the lower passenger side tank in about 30 seconds.Watched it happen at work from inside the shop, glad I found a KJ radiator in town on a Sunday.

Jayme was your steam coming from the right side of the grill?

No, the steam is actually coming from the overflow at the reservoir. TonyCRD suggested that I siphon off some of the fluid from when I overfilled it, and that doing so may correct the problem. I'm going to try that in the morning.

Otherwise the leak has gone away, like Troy said.

Overfilling just a little is not a concern and the steam you saw was 100% normal as the cooling system pushed some out to the overfill tank(part of the reservoir). But if you have any concern just replace the cap, only a few bucks and a good idea to change every few years anyway.
