Approx two months ago, the check engine light came on with a p0121, (tps related). I removed the connector, ran the wiring harness for nicks, chaffing, etc, and ohm'd out the sensor, everything checked out fine, including the reference voltage. I cleared the code, replugged the sensor connector, and the thing ran great till Dec 23, where at 70mph, there was a few hiccups, and the p0121 came back. Repeat diagnostics and all checked out OK, but I replaced the TPS with an Echlin module from NAPA. Ran great Til today, when it bucked, sneezed, and had a multitude of running issues, with a p0121. The running issues include: delayed 1-2 shift, downshift from OD lockup to 2nd gear (at 60mph) causing an rpm spike to 4500, and it would not upshift until I stopped and turned off the ignition; erratic choppy accelleration, gear hunting between 2, 3, OD, lockup and non-lockup. Also the auto door locks would lock at variety of speeds, not 15mph as usual.
When I got home, I pulled the connectors on the PCM to check for issues, and there were no outward signs (battery connected, ignition off). Interestingly, when I reconnected the PCM, the code was cleared and the Jeep started right up, with the CEL extinguished.
The battery is approx two years old. Ground straps look good. There is a DEI remote start module in the Jeep, which seems to function normally. Weather has been clear, no rain or snow, approx 25deg.
What is the consensus on this issue? I know the p0121 can also refer to the Map and TPS not agreeing. Is this a common path issue?
