I want to remove my Jeep, 4x4 and 3.7L badges from the rear and also the Jeep badge on the hood. How do I go about doing this? I'm doing this to give my Jeep that blacked out, custom look.

Here is a comparison with and without the badges on the rear.

The carefull use of a heatgun will take them right off.

Do not have one. Need another option.

Option AA
hair dryer
works great not too much heat but enough
just hold it on long enough that the letters get warm,
then you can peel them off, glue be gone or something like that to remove the rest of the glue
mine was done 6 years ago the same way

Thanks Tom. Wasn't sure if a hairdryer would work.

Also works great with what Tom said if you add fishing line in with it. I've tried with just goo-gone with hair dryer.

15lb stren fishing line sliced my liberty badges right off - it was about 60 out, so would probably have to sit there with the hair dryer for a lil while until it was at least not cold to the touch

goo-gone or "Oops" or lighter fluid and a rag will get the adhesive residue off then wipe it down with alcohol, let it dry and throw some wax over it

Thanks guys, for all the tips. :)
Maybe I'll try this mod out tomorrow. This week I'm picking up my new wheels and painting them black Saturday, hopefully.

here's a tip for the fishing line

cause if you just use your fingers, it works itself tighter and tighter around your finger like dental floss and starts hurting

gut one of those white plastic ink pens like a bic or something then cut it in half and tie the line to one and wrap it, then wrap it around the other

it's something I wish i had done when i did mine

I will try the hairdryer method first, since I already have that. If that fails, I will try the fishing line option.

the tape is pretty tough, an old credit card or something will work too once the goo gets soft

Dont pull too hard with the fishing line. I just lost my first mate for a few weeks due to a really big fish pulling really hard and the 500lb 2.24mm fishing line went through his welding gloves and gave him 29 external stiched and 5 internal stitches. "NEVER DOUBLE WRAP" around your hand. Maybe the hair dryer can reduce this effect. :SOMBRERO:

You'll like the look without the badges...much smoother. I did this to an S-10 back in high school. Post pics if you do it. Its on the list of mods to get done on mine when ever I get home.

Sweet! I've been planning on debadging my jeep to spray the badges black and put them back on to match the bottom half! Kinda excited now!

Just finished removing the badges. Now I'm getting ready to drive to Wal-Mart to buy the Goo-Off. Yes you can still see sticky stuff, I know. Partly because there was dirt behind every letter. :dizzy:

it's gonna look good! if ya have some zippo lighter fluid, its pretty much the same stuff

but I think there's a little something extra in the goo-gone/goo-off/oops stuff that isn't in lighter fluid that helps

have fun! stay warm :P looks like a chilly day to be workin out an elbow

Heck yeah it was! I frooze my arse off. :-)r Bout to go back out and take that glue crap off. It's raining now and much colder.

Bought Turtle Wax Bug&Tar Remover instead of Goo-Off. Didn't want to fool with the Walmart crowd as it's suppose to snow 3"-8" here by tomorrow morning/afternoon. People in a rush to get bread n' butter :dizzy: I'm right in between the heavy and moderate snow fall, so we shall see.

BTW Jarhead, I should have a nice set of GrandCherokee wheels painted black by Saturday. So my Jeep mods are ALMOST 100% complete.
I still get the " What the..." looks from people when I'm driving the BlackWidow.

sounds good :P

you'll find something else to tweak i'm sure

i never say the mods are complete.. i just say, "I'm almost done working with with the pile of stuff I've bought in the last couple months"

then work on getting another pile of parts and etc items

If I want to put the badges back on what should I use?
