I bought an extended warranty from Chrysler/Jeep in 06 when I purchased my KJ new. It is about to run out soon. Can say only used it 1 time since I bought it. Anyone here on the forums have good or bad to say about extended warrranties, or can recommend who to or "not" to use? Got 65k on my Liberty CRD. No problems or issues to date, always on top of service and maintenance shedules.

Extended warranties are always not worth it. Save your money and insure yourself.I know a bunch of people are going to disagree, but the ext. warranties are a rip.

I got the extended warranty thrown in at no cost by the sales buy when I bought mine. I was bought mine on last day of the month, at end of quarter. They needed sales. I got bumper to bumper "wrapper" warranty. It covers everything as long as I own it for a $50 deductible. It would have been a $1200 package. I have used it a couple times after the 3/36 ran out. I guess it all depends on what the warranty covers, for how long, and the cost of it. If my A/C system goes out, it would have been a $1200 repair. Or engine, tranny, etc... And I plan to keep mine forever, so I think this one would have been worth it in the long run, even if I had to pay for it.

Yeh, that's kinda how I feel also. Have had and not had ext. warranties before on other vehicles, but only paid off a couple times. I plan on keeping my CRD for a long time also. Only thing that would make me get something different, is if Jeep ever comes out with a Wrangler 4dr. with a diesel or Pentastar enging option. Otherwise, I just don't care much for the V-6 gas engine they offer now in the Wrangler. In my opinion, Chrysler/Jeep is really missing a large consumer base by NOT offering an engine option on the Wrangler line.

Here's a warranty story for ya.... While in SC my '02 sport broke a valve spring and dropped a valve resulting in a blown engine and wasted cyl. head. called the warranty company and after a bit of hassle got a rebuilt long block installed and was back on the road.

As others have stated you really want to research what the warranty DOES NOT cover, I tried making a claim for an oil pressure sending unit and was told "no, that was considered a normal wear item", despite mine having been pre-certified and having the "gold" protection plan that was supposed to cover everything. The hassle with the warranty company over the motor was that at first they didn't want to go with a remanned motor they wanted to put in a salvage yard motor with roughly the same amount of mileage as the old one, after I made a few calls to the local stealership they changed their tune, but according to the warranty contract they only have to put you back to where you were when the incident happened. So if your engine goes at 50K miles then they can and most likely will find a salvage motor with supposedly that many miles or less on it to install in your jeep. They call this "like kind and quality".....
