Found what appears to be my tranny cooler lines starting to rust pretty bad. Is this typical?

That is a top down view. Are these going to be hard or expensive to replace? Do I need to replace the whole line or can I cut out the rusted steel line and replace with stainless steel lines?

I noticed this when had things opened up to replace radiator hoses. Are these supposed to be a maintenance item? Mine were pretty swollen (couldn't hardly slide clamp off) and soft.
