Post subject:  Ignition off Draw

Hi
i have this problem, my battery(new bought last November) will discharge itself after two days without driving my Jeep.
Disconnect everything (all aftermarket accessories) from the battery on both poles.
put a current meter in line at the Neg. pole . I get ,after all doors are closed , 0,39A to 0.16A on the meter
and it goes like this in a cycle from 0.16A. to 0.39A. than down to 0.16A., etc.
went through all the fuses ,first in the Power distribution centre ,found out that the current is dropping went the last 50 A.
JB fuse is remove. then get to the Junction box on the driver side.
Finally spot circuit #3(horn circuit) that is responsible of that current draw , went I remove the fuse ,current drop to 0.02A.
witch is acceptable
No effect went I remove the horn relay. Horn and relay(tested hear the clic) are working well.
also disconnect the two horns to see if current is dropping no result,
Any clues???? :dizzy:
Thanks

One of the wires going to the horn must be chafing through to ground or may be chafing through to another cable next to it within the wiring loom. This is not too unusual actualy but can be hard to locate.
I had about five wiring problems on my 2002 CRD, in all cases I disconnected the suspect cable at both ends (and any included splices) . Now with the cable going nowhere you would expect no resistance reading down to ground right?
In my case I had some reading to ground...not a direct short but enough to cause a problem.
I isolated the bad wires and replaced them end to end with new wires....it is too difficult to try and strip the harness down to look for damaged cables.
In my case the front right of the Jeep had been in a crash....GF hit a tree that jumped in front of her....and I believe the main harness in that area picked up some damage.
I would suggest you disconnect your wires to the horns at both ends and temporaly run some new ones in their place to see if the problem still exists. :?
