Hi from a new owner. Is there a cure for my KJ suddenly having the revs climbing about 800 and the "OD OFF" when cruising at about 70 in moderate temperatures with no load and flat terrain? John. |

This may seem stupid, but are you accidentally hitting the OD off button? You should really post this over in the CRD forum. viewforum.php?f=5 The Noob guide over in the CRD forum is a good read: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=54207 Welcome to LOST! |

I thought it might be more than a CRD Issue. It has happened fairly often while on cruise. Unless the OD OFF button is on the left side of the steering wheel I do not think so. I looked for that button, but did not find where it lives! Should I ask mod to move? JohnB |

The o/d off button is on the side of the gearshift. The autobox has five gears, with the top 2 (I think) only engaged with od on. So basically, if I'm reading your post right, you are doing 70 in third. If you just leave the od engaged, it automatically "comes on"over 30 or 35 - I can't recall which. You'd only really want to take od off if you are towing up an incline. If the od ONLY disengages when you are driving in the conditions you describe, then you have a problem which should be dealt with by a dealer, or a good independent garage which knows KJs. |
