Thought this might help someone in the future. 2006 KJ Renegade. Wife tells me about a vibration in the KJ. Test drove it. Vehicle shakes upon deceleration. Shake is more severe as the KJ comes to a stop. No difference in neutral. no difference while turning. Vibration is more pronounce when appling the brake hard. Vibration more pronounced (felt) in the rear seat. No clunking while shifting from park to reverse to drive. Got underneath the KJ. No slop in the drive shaft. Looked at the u-joints with 200w of shop light. Some wear, but nothing obvious. Dropped the drive shaft. The rear u-joint (just in front of the diff.) moved in one direction, but not the other. Pressed out the u-joint. One bearing cap was completely rusted in the inside with only half of the needle bearings in tack. Replaced front and rear u-joints. $30.00 and 1/2 of a Saturday. Problem solved. Hope this helps someone in the future. OJ |

Welcome to LOST Good reminder to newer members on here replaced mine over 100,000 miles ago ( at about 50,000 miles) due to vibration some think you have to have noise but these just get dry and are pretty much rusted together |
