Post subject:  Power Steering Pump??

During my usual oil change routine yesterday i noticed a slight leak on the power steering hoses. I also have been hearing some noise from the PS pump.

My plan for this is to keep an eye on the fluid level for the next week or so, then when i have the time, swap the PS pump, the return hose, the pulley and the high pressure hose.

FSM says i need to pull the cross-member and the fan to swap the PS pump. Any easier way to do this??

Never been under hood of 04,on an 02 nothing but the belt and hose connections need to be removed. As for the leak, would almost guarantee it is the O ring on the pressure line.

I have an '04 too and had a leak about 2 or 3 years ago. The hose wore out against another hose - stupid design. After you fix it make sure you put some protection around the hoses as it'll just happen again. I got some electric plastic hose wrap and change it out about once a year.

The pressure lines are known to weep out of the crimp fittings, the o-rings are the last thing generally to leak unless someone took off the hose and put it back on without installing a new o-ring or the wrong o-ring.
