Bought a used 2005 KJ CRD in February. What is this on the roof, a satellite radio or GPS antenna? Does that mean the jeep had a different radio inside? It currently has the RBK (radio / CD / changer controls) radio. And if it has one, where is the 6 CD changer normally located? ![]() Thanks in advance, Loyd |

I have a 2006 CRD with the RB1 Nav radio and CD Changer but mine did not have Sirius built in and I don't have an Antenna like that on the back of my roof. So it is not a GPS antenna more likely its for sirius. I think the GPS antenna is up near the wiper area. If you have a changer its in the right rear inside quarter panel of the cargo area. KJ's I have seen with out a changer have a storage nook with a net there. I looked in to buying the Chrysler tunner for sirius since I had siruis already but the module kit was expensive. I was told wires along with the changer so it may mount close to the changer. If you call sirius they can check to see if your Jeep is set up by your vin or they know key sequences to bring up the radios ESN# If you can get the ESN to display that means that there is a satalite tuner installed and that's what they need to set up the subscription on it. Edit I found this page on Liberty radios http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Jeep_Liber ... Head_Units The RBK if that page is correct has: single CD, changer controls, Sirius ready but can not display song title/artist info from the sat, 66 watt power, XM adaptor available it does not support: sirius artist/song display, MP3 palyback, RDS, UConnect, and obvoiusly not GPS or Nav |

Thanks! It is a Sirius antenna, and confirmed my RBK radio has the satellite option. To get the ESN on the RBK, turn the ignition to Accessory. Turn the radio off. Press and hold the EJT (CD eject) and TIME buttons for three seconds. The first four digits of the ESN appear. Press SEEK + to view the next four digits, or SEEK - to view the previous four. I'm waiting for the radio to activate now. It's too bad the RBK doesn't show title and artist information. Looked on the right side of the cargo area, no CD changer but have the cargo net. I assume adding a changer would require also swapping out the quarter panel trim. I might spring for the iPod integration kit instead, or really save up for the RB1. Loyd |

Cool glad I could help. I would have posted the key combo to get the ESN but I couldn't remember what I was told it was by surius. when I did it on mine no ESN came up b/c I have no tuner attached to My RB1. The RB1 can do the song titles and shows streets in NAV as well as turn by turn. the down side is you can not play a CD in the RB1 while in NAV b/c the DVD must be in to use nav. you can listen to the radio or sirius or changer. The RB1 is expensive at $1595.00 I would not have it if my Jeep didn't include it when I got it used. THere is a RB4 that is different and a few hundred cheaper. it may or may not show song titles and the Nav stores the route in memory once set up so you can take the nav disc out and play a cd. the RB4 uses cd technology and has a CD for us/canada east and one for west. it also don't show you the street maps Like the RB1 only turn by turn and direction inticators. RB1 uses 1 dvd for all contintental us and canada. See here http://home.comcast.net/~mr.scsi3/RB1_RB4.HTML depending how you listen to music an iPod thingy might be a wiser and cheaper investment. I use a plug and play sirius radio on a dock with direct power & direct FM adaptors installed. That's how it was in the car i had be4. I don't use my change that much but I don't have an ipod. I use my HTC Evo as an MP3 player so not sure if the ipod thing would help me at all. |

tonycrd wrote: Hmm, I thought the sattelite antenna was installed below the dash? First time I see one on the roof... You are confusing it with the GPS antenna for Nav that goes under the dash up near the glass. GPS siglal can penitrate plastic and glass that is not metalic coated http://www.jeepkj.com/forum/showthread.php?p=421343 For Satalite radio the antenna needs a fairly straight unobstructed view of the sky. The two could live in the same housing on the roof if set up that way. I think that is how GM does the XM, onstar, GPS set up. |

I use my HTC Evo as an MP3 player so not sure if the ipod thing would help me at all. Ebay has used RB1s for about $600. Pricey, but new aftermarket nav units are at least $800. Is Chrysler or Alpine (who I think makes the RB1) still supply map updates? I would also have to check if the in-dash GPS antenna was installed.... As for iPod integration, the module has the Apple 30-pin dock connector so is only useful for iPods, iPhones and iPads (if supported). I thought there was an auxiliary module with either RCA or mini headphone inputs but could be mistaken. The FM adapter I have for the iPod doesn't work as well in the Jeep as in my Nissan Altima. And the fact that the 12-volt power is always on in the Jeep (they are ignition switched in the Nissan) makes using accessories more time consuming. |

ipod integration has both outputs, the ipod plug and the typical head phone jack plug. |

Ok that's cool so I could play music on my Evo through the Jeeps stereo. where did you get this for the 2006 and will it work with the RB1 and a changer connected. I know it will not control the Evo or charge it and that's fine if I can use my car charger at the same time. does the cable need to end in the glove compartment or can it go to the center console or storage box between the seats? Sorry for hijacking too |

Yeah, it is the Sat radio antenna. I have it on my roof as well. You can see it in these pictures... ![]() ![]() ![]() I converted my Sat radio input on the back of the stock radio into an iPod input. I love it! The only think I miss is the ESPN Radio channel. I could care less about Sat radio for music. |

Nice I would only need the 3.5mm stereo connector. Is there a place to get the Ipod kit for a decent price? I seen it on just for jeeps for over $100 Also do you know if I can still leave the changer connected and usable too. I found an ipod kit on ebay.... that seller said the changer had to be disconnected but it was not a mopar kit. Realy all I would like to have is an Aux input to play the evo into the Jeep's stereo. controls are not that important. |

From what I can tell, you can have the Sirius and iPod/aux adapter connected at the same time. But, you can have either the iPod or CD changer connected, not both at once (they use the same plug in the head unit). http://www.jeepkj.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-30022.html Not an issue for me personally, but may be for others. Don't know about the pricing on the iPod kit, that seems to be the going eBay rate. |

More info. RB1 requires an adapter cable to work with both Sirius and iPod kits. http://www.jeepkj.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30022 Comparing RB1 and RB4. http://home.comcast.net/~mr.scsi3/RB1_RB4.HTML |
