| Post subject: | 2006 KJ no start???? |
So on Friday afternoon someone notified me that one of our company KJs wouldn't start. 2006 KJ with 113k on it, never any problems and runs great (up until now). The radio and windows and everything worked fine, but it wouldn't start. Not even any clicking of the solenoid!! I checked all relays and fuses, none seem to be blown. I got under it and jumped the starter solenoid, the started turned the motor over but it wouldn't start!! The fuel pump comes on (can't find a schrader valve to verify pressure on the rail??), there is noise at the ABS pump and in the intake tube going to the manifold....MAF or whatever must be there, or maybe even a butterfly valve?? There was apparently no indication that anything was wrong prior to the no start situation. So today the mechanics finally got to take a look at it. They hopped in, hooked up the computer, and got no codes. They tried to start it, and it started!!! They drove it over to their side of our building near the bay doors, turned it off, and then it wouldn't start again, same as before!! It's been raining off and on since the weekend.....not sure if that would have anything to do with it?? Wasn't raining on Friday. He pulled the codes again after he had the no start and he gets no codes!!!! Anyone have any leads?? He said that he found a bulletin about some system that allows things to communicate wirelessly....but he didn't want to mess with it anymore at the moment because it started to downpour again. Can anyone lead me in the right direction??? This liberty has worked fine with no issues for the past 113k!!!! Thanx! |

I had the exact same symptoms you are having on a Mazda once. It ended up being the starter, replaced it, then no problems. |

Did you test the battery? Low voltage can cause havoc with the computer controls, causing it not to start. |

Ended up going to the dealer and they replaced the steering column due to messed up wires in the steering column....no idea what caused it??? It works now though |

I own a 2006 liberty also, Just to let everbody know this Problem Relates to the ignition Switch a $20.99 part at autozone. Unfortunately, what is more than likely to happen when replacing. Your gonna break a little piece of potmetal that is inbetween the keyed ignition and the ignition switch. there is no part # for this little devil and the steering column must be replaced.Cost $751 installed Vs. $21 and 20 minutes. Hope this helps anyone who encounters thisNo start: Check All Lights work: Check ( Interior Exterior not dimming) Battery good : Check Stereo turns off when in start position :Check Starter/ Ignition Relays are good but arent working: Check About to break a tiny peice of metal : Priceless Good Luck |
