Yes, I know. Small evap leak. Usually a gas cap problem. I tried re-tightening it. Code came back. I have now replaced it with a new cap. Code is back. Started digging around under the hood today and saw this. These 2 vacuum lines have some etched and cracked spots on them (right where the arrow is pointing). Looks like some kind of acid got on them and ate the plastic. ??? I don't know how that happened. No battery explosion under there that I was aware of. I assume replacing these lines should fix the code. Am I right, or am I barking up the entirely wrong tree? :juggle:

You are barking up the right tree....
Just replaced mine....
You may want to check/follow those hose lines to see if there are any other leaks/ cracks... there is also a small section of hose line about 4" long that is above/ behind the rear tri-link that you should also check... a piece of 3/16th fuel line will work in that location...
Usually replacing one part of the hose line reveals more leaks as it tends to suck better...

Well, we'll see in a week or so if this did the trick. There was a definite hole in each of those plastic lines. Here is the short section that I cut out of each of them.

Here is a pic of them after splicing with rubber vacuum hose. 5/16" and 7/16" hose worked perfect for a good snug slip fit over the existing plastic tubes. Should not have any leaks (at least here any more)

Ltt

I replaced everything in the engine compartment with new from the dealership...
Both of those lines connect to metal lines which run behind a heat shield on the drivers side fender well.... and are all part of a single part/unit
I used the fuel line in the rear....by the tri-link... however if it works where you spliced it together.... Awesome....you just saved over $70 :google:
And you owe me a beer!

I'm glad you figured it out [hopefully].. I was going to try, but since I was still under warranty I figured I'd let them worry about it.

 Good day to all. I relaized this is an old posting but i believe this would be the right place to post. I had been plague with P0456 code for months. I replace the gas cap, and noted that after some research it is to believe that if you do not use the OEM gas cap you would get the same code. SO i replaced it. no help there. I also replace the pump and all hoses connecting to it since the cost of those hoses where not that expensive. While I desiced to do a detail visual inspection of the line that comes from the tank to the engine compartment I did not notice anything obious there. However once in the engien compartment as I look at the fire wall I notice the line bends 90 degrees down and a few inches from the bend is a quick disconnect coupling. As i inspect that area i notice that the valve cover has a stud sticking out and a rubber cover over the stud and i notice the line was leaning on this cover, to my relief I had found a defect of design in which the line has been rubbing against the stud cover and it made a small hole that if you dont move the hose you would never see it. I had been doing some research on this for some time but I found that many people had in fact suffer from this nuisance and that no matter how many times they took it to the dealer the code seem to pop up again and again. I know that while my case is not the norm, i hope it does some good and helps a few just by checking this portion of the line.

BTW this line connects to the purge valve and then from the purge valve it goes to the intake top side. the line that was damaged can be replace easily and i do not thing the cost of this line is expensive. In my case I just took some black electrical tape and made a few wraps around the area then I used some thinck heat shrink and finnaly i made a sort of barrier with some more black electrical tape to avoid the hose form breaking again. This should hold while I purchase a new line.

I hope this helps out.

Thanks
