I'm looking to add a locking pin on my hitch and would also like to have some rattle-reduction. I found that the DrawTite style hitches (with the second hole) and j-pin locking pins look to fit the bill:

Having the factory hitch receiver, I'll have to add a 7/16 hole to even make it work, but I'm wondering if other folks have used this system and what your impressions are?

Dan

Wrap your insert with some electrical tape untill it fits nice and tight. No rattles at all will be the result :JEEPIN:

So I went out and messed around with mine.
There is such a slight gap, that no metal, 1/16 will fit in there to snug it up.
I have tried the electrical tape idea, and just came out with a pile of electrical tape.
It rubs off when switching back and forth.

Any other ideas?

Use just enough tape to allow it to slide in. I have been doing that for years on every vehicle I ever owned a hitch on with no issues other than being rattle free. I also have used rubber dip but it takes tons of patience to shave it down so that the insert slides in which is why I just went back to using electrical tape.

I've tried tape..and cardboard, and metal shims. Mostly I like the pin-based thing because it's permanent, is easily removable, and actually locks the accessory in the receiver. That's the one I'm interested in hearing about.
