So my wife reports to me yesterday that the Jeep's power windows aren't working at all. I do the usual suspect rundown last night, checking underhood fuse, and fuse in Jeep. All good, test light shows voltage all the way to relay. I get to work this morning, and figured easiest way to see whether relay is good or not is to switch it around. I do that, and the relay is good. I then "borrow" an employee's same year liberty and yank my window switch out and plug it into her jeep, that's good. I go buy a relay just in case, plug it in, no go. So then I have a friend who owns a small used car dealership call the big jeep dealership up here and they tell me, and I kid you not, to wiggle the wires on the driver's side leading to and from the fuse/relay box until the switches work. It's a common problem, and it will come out of it. Please oh please someone tell me this is a joke, and they found a concrete problem. I really really don't want to track a short somewhere in that wire but I will.

A wiggle test is an actual thing to do when diagnosing electrical issues. It can be most helpful in finding sporadic issues.

Have you voltage tested at the motor?

If your "master" window switch is on the drivers door, the culprit is generally in the wire bundle
between the door pillar & the door.

If your switches are in the center console, there is a connector in the main bundle behind
the heater controls that can work it's way loose.
There is a second connector behind the fuse panel that joins the engine compartment wiring with
the interior wiring.

If that doesn't work, hit it with a hammer. :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL:

Hey, thanks guys. I'll check that connection behind the heater controls. (Center console mounted switches.) And I've got power all the way to the relay, but not to the switches, to answer the first question. I had the window in the back down a little too far, so this morning just hit it with some power direct from my booster box to roll it up under the vent visors. Thank god the A/C works or i'd be dying. (As naturally my wife has assumed driving our other vehicle while this being taken care of.) :?

Ended up being in the bundle under front floor mat. On my model the wires run from the fuse block to under the driver seat, then up to the center console. Rocks had worked under the floor mat and the Plastic cover under the rug protecting them had slid. I'm talking like two freezer bags of rocks under there. Chafed from getting in and out I guess and moving the rocks around.
