There is always some ways to disable an airbag, but in north america it is totally illegal to eleminate a security device wich came out from the factory.

On some cars, you can remove the airbag fuse or relay, but most of time it will also disable the abs/esp systemand light up some lights in your cluster.

Just a question, why you want to do so?

I dont want to disable the airbag, I just want to disable the light (stay off) as when someone is sitting there.

Short of taking out the light there is no way,but even taking out that bulb can disable all the airbags also as one small fault in the whole system shuts the SRS system down for safety.

It is the way it is suppose to work, the reason is when you start the car,the computer does a system check,if nobody is on the passenger seat it goes off, then if you sit someone less than 45lbs it lights up to indicate that the airbag is disabled for security matters, many tests proved the airbag system to be armfull to childs sitting in the front seats during airbag deployement, and when someone over 45 lbs sits on it the light stay off and the airbag is on normal operation mode.

Do the test and put something less than 45 lbs on the passenger seat you will see,the explanation is in the owner manual.

If yours does not work like that, there might be a problem somewhere.

The Light on the grab handle on my 06 comes on when my 80 pound short grandson sits in the seat, way over 45 pounds :juggle:

The light comes on when there's weight in the seat , like a purse, but does not meet a certain height requirement. It's designes to protect childern and short adults :SOMBRERO:

So the seat figures out how tall the person is?Nothing is impossible,so maybe.

Maybe something different in my 06 crd but i can assure you in my owner manual it says 45 pounds and less, the light comes on and no airbag deployment, over 45 pounds it works normal.

I cant argue with you bud,im just telling you what i saw in the book, maybe a chrysler tech could explain more... :?

From my experience in my '07, it does have to do with weight, but it also matters if that weight is spread out or put in one spot of the seat, I'm assuming where the sensor is located.

When my sister (21 years old and average height/weight, definitely over 100lbs) sat in the seat the light would come on, signaling the airbag was disabled.

I brought my truck to the dealer and they said they reset the system/sensors? and it works fine now..
