I more or less have a quick question. I have an '04 Renegade with the plastic crossbars and I wanted to put my kayak up there, but I', a lil worried. Has anyone tried putting a kayak on these cross bars? If so, how did they hold up? Also does the light bar get in the way at all? I'm just wondering if they're gonna hold or if I should try to remove them and get/make new cross bars.
Thank!

Yeah, it should hold up. Might be hauling a kayak on my homemade crossbars this Saturday. My crossbars are made out of PVC piping with caps at both ends and u-bolts holding them down.

I have had at least 150 lbs up on our Sport's factory roof rack.
That's in addition to the Thule roof rack system which includes
3 cross bars, an 11 cubic foot ski box and cargo basket.
So a kayak which doesn't weigh that much to begin with will won't
be a problem.
This weekend I'll post photo's of our 15.5 foot tandem kayak up there
along with the other crap.
I'll post them else where and provide a link.
