Post subject:  Rear Cargo Carrier

I was wondering if anyone has or knows anyone who owns this rear cargo carrier. http://www.ontheball.com/basket_carriers3.htm

It's pricey, but with my 2nd boy on the way and a very large dog, I'm rapidly running out of room for the weekend camp trips. This thing is fully lockable, has lights, and will keep things safe and dry. Much easier to load the suit cases in there then up on the roof. It will also serve well as a deer hauler.

Buying a metal hauler and weather proof bag would probably be a lot cheaper, but this thing looks nice. Also, I don't think you can lock up the bags.

Has anyone ever see one in action?

Looked at it, really pricey.
For less than 1/4 the price u can get one of the metal ones and then go to a container store or Home Despot and get one of those big plastic foot lockers they send kids off to college with. Bolt one to the other and Viola! It's lockable and watertight as well. If u use the one with the wheels, you can make it removable and roll ure stuff around.

Granted, the locker is only about 4 cubic feet and the box above is 15 but it's also pretty huge for the back of a KJ.

I have the Reese Cargo tray. Its pretty nice, I just have the straight tube mount for it. The swing away mount would be nice to have. You would need to check the clearance of the spare tire for the storage box or get an extension for the hitch. The box would be nice, I don't use my carrier in the winter because its always wet, If I had the box I probbably would use it in the winter.
