Is there a roof basket or cargo carrier that can be mounted safely without cross bars? I want to pack around 100-200 lbs on the roof without investing in cross bars. I'd probably pack camp chairs and/or a large cooler on the rack. Cost is a factor, otherwise I'd spring for the cross rails. A hitch carrier seems like a good alternative but I don't think they offer much space and my cargo would probably absord a lot of exhaust. If I don't find a good option, I just strap stuff directly to the vertical bars and wrap straps across the front and back to keep it from sliding. Kev |

I have the Surco roof rack. It comes with it's own cross bars mounted on the rack itself. It's a 30 minute procedure from opening the box to putting the rack on the Lib. KJKev |
