I got a 750 Watt Power Inverter. which iirc can handle 7.5 amps (if the conversion is right) What type of devices can you run with it? Id like to see what you all use your inverters for. I know it will handle my 3 gallon air compressor and obviously some shop lights.....but what are its possibilities? |

Well Watts are Watts.....you cannot run a 800 watt microwave....maybe a small fridge....a TV yes but not the surround sound Home Theatre that goes with it etc. A small electric drill or power saw, sander.....as long as you watch the Watts it is OK....most invertors do not like fluerescent lights or rather most fluerescent lights do not like invertors. The formula for Watts is Watts =Volts X Amps so if you are using a 12 volt battery and ignoring losses in the conversion then you would be drawing 62.5 amps from the battery....that is a lot of amperage! |

You need to find out what the surge capacity is. You may have a 1,000 watt surge capacity. Anyway, that will determine the type of tool or appliance that you can run. Basically, you can run your cell phone, camcorder, stereo, laptop, TV, small power tools, and small kitchen appliances. |

Read the specifications carefully, because sometimes it can only hold 750 watts for a certain amount of time before dropping off to a lower continuous power. j-rod wrote: Id like to see what you all use your inverters for I have probably used my inverter to power a small portable vacuum more times than anything else. I have a fetish for keeping the inside of my vehicle and camper clean. I’ve used it many times for off grid camping. I’ve never mounted it, so it’s kind of a pain to open the hood and hook it directly to the battery. But it’s better than nothing. We also use it to charge all of our electronics. |

Some coffee pots too most coffee pots are ~500ish inverters are also rather lossy so best to run them directly from the battery - properly fused etc A little electric blanket that tested out as about 300w popped the fuse on my power port during a road trip with my gf |

The power wire is too small on a cigarette lighter for the amount of voltage. I bet you rigged it up so it would pop the fuse.....

heh i stopped hooked it up to the battery and ran the feed line through my firewall access and told her to get in the backseat with the blanket and take a nap and I finished the 600 mile drive |

it is 750W continuous and 1500W max... it will be hard wired to battery with fuse. |

j-rod wrote: i know for sure my compressor and angle grinder. then anything to make a weekend wheelin trip fun. You'll want a 3000+ watt inverter for any air compressor as start up amps are crazy high for compressors and the amperage draw gets high when they start getting hot.Good compressors(OB air type, small) will pull almost 200amps for the higher end 100% duty cycle ones. |

its just a little 2 gallon compressor....amp draw is only 2.5 |
