| Post subject: | KJ Double Din Kit |
I was referred here by someone on Jeeps Unlimited that said my services may be of some benefit to the community. I designed a dash panel for the WJ guys that allow them to install a Double Din radio into their vehicles without making permanent alterations to the dash boards of their vehicles. I was gauging to see what kind of interest there is for something similar in a KJ before I undertook the project. (no point in building it if no one wants it.) Below are some images of the WJ kit I developed. Post your thoughts/opinions/questions here, and thanks in advance! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I'd be interested in putting my 2m radio ontop of my regular 1din hu i'd check to see if a 2din would fit (structurally) in the KJ's first , our stock hu's were 1.5din - I don't pay attention to A/v stuff to be honest my guess is, that it would take more than a dash fascia to fit a 2din |

Not to derail the thread but how much are the WJ kits and there are no modifications to the dash? Although I plan on keeping the stock radio for a while would be nice to put a more modern GPS in one day. |

I run a single DIN head unit and have a 7" screen and GPS,granted the GPS is a seperate unit but displays on head unit.I would require some modifying beyond just a face plate to fit a double DIN radio in a KJ. |

Apologies for not following up sooner, still moving into our new shop. The WJ kits start at 100$ and go up from there, depending on finish, and come with the face plate and bracketry to get the new radio in. There is some subdash plastic that needs to be cut out but it is nothing structural and does not prevent you from re-installing the factory radio allowing you to switch back should you want/need to. No modifications should be necessary to the HVAC in a WJ, and according to that thread none for the KJ either. Even if we decide to not manufacture a full replacement like the WJ, at a minimum we can modify the KJ panels and provide brackets (should be able to use the brackets we are currently using in the WJ), so if someone is interested and would like to be a guinea pig send me a message and we can discuss the matter further. Thanks for the input guys, I hope now that we are almost settled in here to get cracking on development of this! |
