Hey members, I am close to getting my liberty, but I have a question that will help me decide just exactly what direction I go. OK...the question is this. If you were getting ready to buy your FIRST liberty/jeep would you go with the gasser or would you go with the diesel? Now I'm not new to diesels. I have had a 96 and 97 Ford powerstroke diesel that was made by Navistar 7.3 and I totally loved them both. Now I am NOT jeep savy and I would love to hear all the ins and outs of jeeps diesel/gasser. Thanks and I appreciate all responses.... |

the CRD's can be a bit finicky, but you just have to keep on top of maintenance. There are certain members that will praise their 3.7 like no other without admitting it has any faults or flaws. I myself only kept my liberty because it is a CRD. If it was a gasser i would have sold it immediately for a TJ. for the record, i have 156xxx major issue free miles. timing belt changed at 130k and a couple glowplugs have gone out. |

are you ready to work on it? from day one the biggest problem has been lack of trained techs. if you learn how to maintain it - it's a great jeep if you're paying someone else to learn - it's really, really expensive. |

If I would of bought a CRD I would of unloaded it after one year due to the issues and no support from Jeep over 160,000 TROUBLE FREE miles on my 3.7 and know of a bunch of 3.7s that have even more |
