KBB says over $13k but I dont really trust that as a source anymore. 2006 Jeep liberty Renegade 4x4 57k miles Mopar armor selec trac Other specs in sig. I dont want to sell the KJ, but I have hit the wall and literally have nothing else I can sell to make ends meet. Sad as she was going to be paid off in january 2012... Just making this thread as a feeler to see if its even worth losing a reliable jeep. |

I bought my 04 from dealer last nov for a hair over 10k with 89k miles on it, stock, except tire size was 245/70/16. dunno if that would help, but figured id mention it just in case it might. |

Well being lifted will kill you on selling price.Return it to stock and you have a better chance at a high dollar sell. |

With you being on the East Coast the dealership should use Black Book bc thats what we use here at Jeff Fender Buick GMC Cadillac. From what I've seen the KBB site is about $2000-$3000 higher then the Black Book, KBB was made for the West Coast. Just a thought. |

Without trying to get into your personal business, I‘d ask yourself two questions. #1, Will paying it off in a few months be enough to help you on the financial end? #2, Will selling it help you get out of debt? I see that you have another Jeep in your signature. If you don’t need two vehicles, then selling one would be worth it. If you need both vehicles, then I would get a part-time job in addition to your fulltime job to help pay off the KJ. I told myself back in 2006 that I would buy NEW from here on out and keep my vehicles for the long haul. I hate buying used, so I'll do whatever it takes to buy new, pay it off within 3 years, and start saving up for the next one. With that being said, being debt free is the way to go. |

Well the jeep is slated to be paid off by january and then ill have zero payments on our three vehicles. Also my wife is due to have our son in january so that is one of the reasons why i am thinking of selling, but with it being paid off things will be alot better finacially once it is (im over paying on the payment by 200%). Honestly in a perfect world id want to keep the kj as a backup/fun vehicle since the wj will probably see a ome lift and tires and thats it due to becoming my dd/family hauler. The probelm I worry about is the kj sitting outside and not being driven much (so much salt and humidity that vehicles rot that way) with the wj up and running. I LOVE my kj and want to keep her but i also dont want it rotting away. Now if i could stick it in the garage it wouldnt be an issue, but for that to happen i would need to remove the lift, light bar and surco rack to have it fit. Basically im stuck at a point of wanting to keep her, but worried about finances and the fact that she wont get driven much during the year and will rot. I will say having the kj as a backup for when i overhaul the wj in a few years will be nice instead of having to buy a beater. Plus i have plans for some serious mods to the kj one day that I have had since I bought her. Thankfully the wife supports keeping the kj so it will come down to how things go over the next few months. Maybe with the plans I have ill take her back to stock height to fit in the garage and sell the ome setup to pay off debt since Ill need to replace it anyways for a sfa setup when i hit the lottery. |

So close to being paid off, I'd tighten my belt a bit and keep it. I can attest that having an extra vehicle can be of great benefit. It's so nice being able to get around while one is out of service for mods/repairs. This allows us to have the time to do the work ourselves saving us lots of money. When the valve seat dropped in Eugene it could have cost $2400 or more. Repairing it myself over a couple weeks cost us less than $400 and was a valuable learning experience. |

Thats why Im trying my best to avoid selling her. I do all my own work (minus paint) so while the WJ is down for paint/body work and waiting on an engine/tranny rebuild it would be quite nice to have another jeep around to drive the family while the WJ is down for a while. Its paying off now while the WJ is down currently so i know the plus side of it. The only issue is Im flat broke at this time due to over paying my jeep payment over this year and with the baby on the way Im getting nervous about supporting my child. I guess Ill suck it up and maybe Ill make my lunch and dinners away from home cost $1 or less (have to resort to eating at a fast food joint) and Ill try and evaluate finances to see where else I can save. The only issue is the rot that the KJ will see due to sitting outside. One day we will get out of the town house and get a real house with a garage that will fit her, but for now the porker will have to stay outside. Oh and the thought of removing the OME suspension makes me sick as I could never go back to the stock ride.... |
