I’m using the FilterMAG on a spin-on transmission filter for my Dodge truck. With the FilterMAG, the trany filter does capture a lot of fine metal dust. I also have one of the FilterMAG’s differential magnets, which also captures a lot of metal dust. I’ve never put one on an engine oil filter, so I was curious what some of you thought. I change the oil once per year on my Dodge and Jeep Liberty, so I was thinking that the FilterMAG may keep the engine oil a bit cleaner. Based on all my UOA’s, I don’t see much metal debris in the engine. Here’s a link for those who don’t have a clue what I’m talking about. http://www.shopfiltermag.com/products.php |

i've seen them a few times but never actually known anyone to use them on the other hand, rare earth magnets and the like can be stuck and or glued to just about any surface and have done so with oil pans and the like - only concern is the rapid release of metal particles should your magnet get knocked off so some will stick them on and put a bead of epoxy or rtv around the magnet to assist in retaining it |

I have one on my Camaro - it seemed like a good idea (I did the engine rebuild) I've never opened the oil filter to see if it's collecting anything - but it should (magnetic pickups on oil plugs always seem to get something - the much larger filtermag should get proportionately more, assumption - no data) |

I've just put one on. I'll let you know how it does next year. |
