So I went out to Wendy (jeep) and was giving her my weekly lookover and found this. ![]() ![]() I have look at hoses and traced everything, wiped it all down waited awhile and it is the bolt. So hopefully the bolt is just loose, but any other suggestions? |

Thats your water pump. I'm not sure if there is a cheap fix or not. A new water pump is ridiculously easy to replace. |

Water pump, just do not buy a airtek pump.Like stated it's super easy to change, about 20mins unless you have HD cooling then it's a little harder.Remember HOAT coolant only(Zerex GO5). |

So i am just replacing the seal. Do i have to remove the mechanical fan... No spanner around here, checked all the stores. |

No spanner... is there another way? Or maybe don't even need to remove the mechanical fan? |

HD cooling is a option on all 3.7 gas KJ's,sounds like yours does not have HD cooling where the OP's does. The spanner is a special wrench that holds the waterpump pulley so you can loosen it via a 36mm thin wrench. |

finished it... man that project sucked but saved me atleast $100 on the cheap side (shop doing it) or on the expensive side $3000 for a new engine when it freezes! I spent $10 on the seal and that was it |

I've been following a little mystery spittle coming from my engine.. changed the top and bottom pipes and the thermostat... was still spittling... finally it started pouring... changed the water pump yesterday... actually took me a few hours rather than 20 mins, but I'm not pro, ran back to the store for some RTV sealand and brakleen to wipe around and clean up. Put in a new pump from the Jeep dealership and new belt...figured I got it all apart might as well go new on both and hopefully never have to worry about it again. I noticed the new pump had plastic scoops inside and the original was aluminum. They wanted $155 for the pump, but ended up paying $131. Good learning experience, One cool thing about Jeep's is the accesibility of these important parts. tjkj, thanks for the tip on going Jeep for the pump. |
