Post subject:  bottoming out on highway?

Driving on highway at around 65 (on smaller 2-lane farm to market hwys, so kind of poopy/bumpy) I am bottoming out. Also when I drive through town, some of the water crossings.. just bought it, (2005 CRD sport 4x4), haven't gotten around to figuring out any recalls (although reading on here I know there are a few), and plan to lift it soon as well.. Just having a few problems with it that have to be fixed first (also leaking diesel from the return line T on the front injector)... Any help is appreciated, thanks!

post some pictures of it, that could tell if the suspension has sagged any, that could really cause bottoming out

Lets see
6 year old springs/shocks
ARB/Wimch on stock springs
there are two things working against you right there

Haha, I have been stalking both of your tech advice responses since I bought it. Yeah just wanted to make sure the stock springs/shocks were what was most likely bad. Do you know if rancho makes a good shock to pair with the OME 790 springs? Not planning on doing any crazy trail riding or anything, just want some leveling with a little more clearance, and don't want to stiffin it all up with daystar spacers up front, plus if I'm replacing shocks/springs, might as well try leveling it that way. Also, with just those springs mounted on say rancho rs5000's, would that leave the front higher or leveled with the rear (will post pics in the morning, sorry for the hassle, know it's a pain w/o having seen what it looks like). Thanks,
David

With the CRD and 790s I would use the OME shocks all around as well.
You'll want to replace your rear springs with 948s as well and OME 132L shocks

Howdy blue Welcome to LOST

OME's all around will work wonders (make sure you get the 790 springs up front, and check with All-J's about the 132L shocks for the rear)

and for the CRD - Sam's Noob guide has lots of Info.

Thanks for the help, I may have decided on what all I want for the setup, nothing is final yet I guess, as I still have to save up/ buy part by part. The only thing I was unsure on, is why I should replace the rear shocks (are the rs9000's no good with rear spacer, for lighter offroad use?) just wondering (noob ?)

You just need longer shocks in the rear with the lift, 99-04 Dodge Dakota 4 wheel drive are what we use So if you don't use the OME 132Ls then thats what you need
