Ok so here's my problem... My daily driver is a 05 sport with a little over 70,000 miles on it and have had no major issues so far. On thanksgiving i jump in and take of and get about a hundred yards away from my house and it just died like someone had turned the key off. It turns over but will not fire up. Im thinking fuel pump went out but having a difficult time to pin point it without just taking it into the shop and dropping the $$$ on it. I do know the fueld pump is in the top of the gas tank but does anyone have any tips or sugestions for me? Also, i can not seem to locate the fuel filter? Sorry if this has already been asked but I'm in desperate need as soon as possible. Thanks for any help.

Check the fuel pressure, there is a test port on the passenger side fuel rail(kinda hard to spot but it's there).Should be about 49psi with the key on/engine off.The fuel filter is part of the fuel pump for a '05 KJ.

I do not have a gauge but a friend recommended just depressing this valve to see if it had pressure and there absolutely no pressure. Nothing came out with key on

Sure the key was in the "Run" setting? and not in the acc setting? Can check the fuse and swap the pump relay or have someone turn the key to run or crank it while your touching the pump relay to feel it click(turn on).

Also are you sure there is gas in the tank, gauges can fail or read grossly incorrect.

Yes my wife actually tried to start it on accident as i was holding the valve in and nothing came out. I have swapped out the fuses and relays in the cab and under the hood. Are there some that i am missing? The tank is reading a little over 1/4 tank I have never had any issues with the gauge being wrong. Actually when you pull the fuel pump relay under the hood the gauge falls to empty and the fuel light comes on and then gauge comes back up when relay is plugged back in.

Okay with that being done I would swap out the ASD relay with a known good one(like the horn relay). If a no go still then replace the pump. With only about a 1/4 tank it would be a breeze to drop, little more difficult if you have a gas tank skid and/or hitch but not bad.

I would highly recommend a OEM pump or Delphi only, yes more $$$ but compared to the others on the market it's $$$ well spent unless you like changing them every year(airtek pumps :banghead: ).

Ok i had to order the fuel pump and it will be in first thing in the morning. We got the tankoff and the pump assembly out. Now i am having a difficult time figuring out how get the pump out of the assembly. Very wary of breaking anything and having to buy whole assembly. Hoping the new pump will have directions. Any help or suggestions are GREATLY appreciated!

Should come as a whole unit, though you can get some parts alone might as well just replace the whole thing.
