| Post subject: | Cruise Control Install..? |
I just purchased an 03 Sport the price was right and I am very pleased with it. The only thing it doesn't have is cruise control. Now I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on installing cruise on this jeep. I believe being an 03 they stopped including the harness for it in the column so it could be easily added. Now I would be happy with anything aftermarket or OEM as long as it performs alright. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks. |

Hey I've been researching this myself, as I just bought one without and wanted add it. I first tried the dealer and they said that my specific vehicle(had to give them the last 8 of the VIN) could not accept the factory Cruise kit.No idea why. The I tried to local places that customize. Both were around $400 for the addon. One said I should check to see if it's a Cable throttle or Electronic. If it was electronic, he couldn't do it, and no universal cruise control kit could work on that system. I called the other place and he said they only prefer electronic as they work better. To further complicate matters, I called 2 jeep dealers here and one said it was cable driven, the other said electronic. I'm going to research it more tomorrow as I am awar from home till thursday. Hope that helps and doesn't add to the confusion. |

Dire I hate to forum jump, but this is from another thread on another forum: (As far as OEM Kits working on Libertys) jp1 Joined: 26 Jul 2005 Posts: 26 Posted: Tue Feb 21, 2006 2:40 pm Post subject: Cruise Control Kit -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Looking to add the cruise kit to our 04 Liberty. I saw several places on line that offer the kit, but I keep seeing the following warning: Servo Connecter is not on vehicles built between 3/20/2003 and 3/12/2004. Check for presence of servo connector before ordering or installing. Do not attempt to install on vehicles built without it. Can anyone tell me what the "servo connector" looks like so I can see if we've got one? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's the link to that thread http://www.jeepkj.com/forums/viewtopic. ... se+control It appears as though my Liberty is Cable controlled. Through visual inspection from my father in law, and by calling a local Jeep's parts department, they confirm it's cable controled (Again I gave them the vin number and they pulled up my specific equipment list). So according to Mobile Enviorment in High Point NC, they can add cruise control for 399 + tax. Not bad in my opinion. |
