just as the title says... my jeep is going crazy. If the jeep is unlocked and the driver or passenger door is open it wont let me lock the doors with either power lock button.

if the doors are closed it locks all the doors by its self and wont let me unlock them from either switch.

(i have gotten them to unlock by holding the switch in the 'unlock' position for 20-30 seconds)

Also when the doors are locked and the jeep is not running... it tries to lock its self every 6 seconds even though it's already locked.

and this only happened once.. but i started it and and the fuel gauge went to completely E and the fuel light came on. next time i started it it went to half tank... which is what it actually had.

this all started yesterday. I have no idea what it could be besides one of the window lock switches shorted out... or the BCM (body control module)

any ideas???????

Check your battery. Sounds like it is going bad.

When anything squirelly starts happening to the electrics on a KJ - once you've checked the fuses, getting the battery checked is a good idea. Its usually the first (and may be the only) indication that it's about to fail.

i forgot to mention that. yesterday when this was all going on a checked the battery.. .12 solid volts... load tested it and it never left 12 volts. and the alt. was putting out a solid 14. so that alt. and battery are both good.

fuses are all good.

Mine did the same thing once with the locks anyway. It would lock the doors and you could hear it constantly locking even when they were locked i would unlock them and they would lock again.I started it up took her for a ride and it never happened again.I guess she just wanted to go for a ride. Nice jeep by the way.

Mine did something like this a while back. Then the dash lights started blinking occasionally too. I think the interior lights flashed and audible alarm sounded a few times too. Finally got a steady battery light, it started to run funny and just made it home. First thought alternator but tested ok. Turned out I just needed to clean the battery terminal/cable contact. Guess they're notorious for that. Didn't even look bad. Been fine since. Unless just the disconnect cleared something.
