I know I am new posting to the board but have been checking it almost daily since I considered bying a Liberty. What do you guys think of these mods. I will be ordering the stuff as soon as my money from being deployed to Iraq comes in. Frankenlift. Cragar Chrome Soft 8's Nerf Bars (for the wife) Jeep OEM Style Grill Guard |

If you plan to take if offroad at all, nerf bars will be the first to get banged up. If you need something for getting into the vehicle, you might be interested in the Carolina Rock Shop's rails. They do have piece sticking out to the side and otherwise looks to be real sturdy. Check out this thread |

What do you guys think of these mods. I will be ordering the stuff as soon as my money from being deployed to Iraq comes in. Frankenlift. Cragar Chrome Soft 8's Nerf Bars (for the wife) Jeep OEM Style Grill Guard Ahh, the irony of coming back from war and buying your Liberty Congrats on your future jeep purchase! Frankenlift: Highly recommended on here, ++ Cragar Wheels:: They seem good and are known to fit. What tires + size are you getting? Nerf Bars: They will suffer rock rash first. I suggest getting boulder bars and mounting them so that they stick out a little. I'll act like a step still, but be less likely to be torn apart on rocks. Grill Guard:: They do look cool, but serve little purpose. They don't guard your grill from anything and don't really do all that good a job at giving you places to mount lights. To add a grill guard, you lose your tow hooks, which makes you harder to recover when you get stuck. You can try to recover by attaching hooks to the grill guard, but it will act as a lever and bend before moving the jeep (especially if you just get a mopar one, they say "for aesthetic purposes only" right on them). Something to be wary of - My brother just came back from Iraq and told stories of all the guys he was with being duped into buying cars while they were in iraq. They gave them deals and said they'd have the cars waiting for them back in the US. Well, they came back to the US for another year, and over that year where the army was paying them less (since they weren't getting the iraq bonus anymore) and they had more expenses, he said he saw a LOT of soldiers had their vehicles reposessed because they couldn't afford to pay for them. These could very well have just been some dumb soldiers who can't manage their money, but I would advise against jumping into a car loan assuming that the war income is stable or that your budget will look the same. Using the bonuses to buy jeep toys like tires and a lift is always a good idea though |

I dont plan on doing any major offroading in it yet. Its still only a one leg. The boss would kill me if i put on pinstripes, I was lucky enogh to be able to get TONKA decals to put on it after I got the lift on. |

I think what WV meant was some "off-road" pinstripes...AKA scratches caused by rocks, twigs, flying dirt and the like. As far as i'm concerned, they are an absolute must have |

I was looking at nerf bars also until I found these and decided they are well worth the extra money (since nerfs run $280+ installed anyhow). http://www.jksmfg.com/supernerfs.htm Pros: -Provide real boulderbar strength / protection -Mount on solid as rock with no flimsy flex like nerf bars -Look awesome -Provides step for easier getting in/out of the Jeep Cons: -Pretty dang heavy -A little pricey |

Welcome to LOST usafgearhead! Thanks for your service to our country and supplying us all with liberty! Frankenlift - Definitely the way to go as long as you don't have the CRD. It's too heavy. If you have the CRD, go for the Daystar. Cragar Chrome Soft 8's - I've heard some good things about these, but I don't have personal experience. Nerf Bars (for the wife) - I was going to do the same thing...sacrifice a bit of breakover angle for a sweetie step. But I got in on the CRS RockRails group buy. The CRS rails look like the SuperNerfs that RaeRae1616 posted a link for. And that's as low as the step is going. If she needs something more, I'll carry my little two-step Werner ladder...or maybe get one of those fire-escape rope ladders or something. Jeep OEM Style Grill Guard - I like a few of these, shopped them all extensively because I really want something up front to tie the leading edge of my canoe to while getting from river A to lake B. But I just can't live with losing my tow hooks. So I got a front receiver and am making a canoe T bar that will mount in the receiver. But if you want the look on the front, you'll just have to lose your tow points. Good luck with your purchases! |

Thanks for the advice dog. The liberty has the V6 in it so the frankenlift will do fine. I understand why everyone is saying to get the rock rails, its a personnal choice. I dont do a lot of major of roading though. |

I don't really plan to climb Mount Everest with mine either. I decided to get the CRS rail 'cause the group buy got them down to $225 installed. Mopar tube step bumpers list at $350 for grey or black and $500 for chrome on Mopar.com. I haven't done the shopping, you might be able to shave a few bucks off that. But I couldn't find anything near the $225 that I'm getting the CRS rails for. There are a bunch of links to online shops (Mopar and otherwise) in this thread... http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=6020 There are also the molded running boards as an option. I think a bunch of people have removed this type of step from their Renegades. Might be something available from someone here in LOST. Just a thought.
