Post subject:  Potential New KJ Owner - Q re: WA Emissions/Inspects

Hello everyone.

I've been looking at a 2006 Liberty CRD which has a stack of mods already done to it. I intend to move to WA State later this summer (from TX), and I'm hoping one of you guys up there with knowledge of their emissions/inspections can tell me whether or not a DPF delete is going to cause me grief once I get up there.

I spent a good 2-3 hrs looking for a thread about this... and kept getting sidetracked by other interesting ones.. I couldn't find anything that addressed this, so apologies if I missed it somewhere.

I hope there's no issue with the DPF - I've missed being a Jeep owner and would love to go back to being able to go more or less wherever I point my rig. :)

This has been a great site to get, err, LOST in, and I'm looking forward to bumping elbows with some of you in the future.

TIA,

Shep

There is no DPF on the 2006 Liberty CRD. you might be thinking of the EGR which we do have on the CRD. The EGR could be deleted and blocked but that may make it not pass emissions in any state that has them for diesels. The issue is you removed part of the system it came with.

what most here do is the SEGR that electronically neuters the EGR or the green diesel tunes that cut egr function way back reducing soot and other problem while adding performance and some fuel economy. it is not cheap but worth it.

Err, Okay. Going on what the owner said, so apparently I was mis-informed. Maybe he was thinking the 2.8 had one like the Grand Cherokee does. (?)

He says he has the green diesel tune with the EGR bypass, as well as the TCM tune.I suppose I should call GDE and ask if they have the VIN on record to verify he does have those tunes.

No DPF does simplify things. :)

Thanks mikey

welcome. I would not be happy about Having a DPF but would adjust if it was on there. the grand I think may have a DPF for 2008. I seen walmart sells the DPF fluid now still glad I don't need it.

we do have Catalytic converters on the 2.8crd Liberty maybe that what he could have been trying to tell you about.

check the vin with Keith from GDE he can tell you if his product is in the Jeep. I wonder if the owner was a member here. Keith is a good guy to work with. I am very happy with my tune.

welcome to the forum.. do check out the CRD sections for more CRD stuff. :JEEPIN:

The only thing WA checks for on diesel is opacity, the gde tune didn't cause me any problems last year!
