Anyone have any opinions about the engine bay dust cover? Mine's falling apart, and I don't feel like replacing it. Has anyone successfully taken it off, cleaned it or flipped it over? If you've taken it off, has there been any paint coming off, or any discoloration on the exterior of the hood? If you've cleaned it, what did you use? And If you flipped it over, did you have to make any other holes in it? I appreciate any response! Thanks in advance!

I do not have a dust cover? Are you talking about the insulation on the hood? I just spray mine with a garden hose, gets it nice and clean. The on on our 94 grand still looks like new. I would not take this off, it keeps the engine heat from killing the paint on your hood.

I dont think it would kill the paint on the hood if you took it off. JeepinAl has his off. It acutally serves as a fire smotherer. If there is a fire started in the engine bay, the little plastic clips melt off and the whole cover falls down to smother the fire.

I've heard alot of people say this, I do not believe thats what its for. Why is it on the firewall and all under the jeep? Its not connected by plastic clips under there either. Its sound dampening, look at a black cherokee's hood someday. The paint on the hood will look awful, just like my bro's 99 black cherokee does. When the engine is hot and the hood is too, then it rains and causes water spots x10 the amount it would a cool hood.

Also, the crd also has this under the engine.
