I'm fairly new to the whole Jeep community. In the past I owned a couple of small trucks, but with the addition of my two children, they quickly became too small. I traded in My z71 4x4 Chevy Colorado for a 2003 Renegade 4x4. At first, I planned on moding it some. Now that notition has changed. I have simply fallen in love with the Renegade, and want to keep it as factory as possible. Anyone else in the same boat? The Renegade I have has 105k miles on it. It needs some work to it. It has several scratches a dent and rust spot above the rear glass. I also need to get new Jeep emblems for the tail gate and hood. The tube steps will also need some work. The interior is in pretty good shape, other than a couple of small holes in the leather. The drive train is in good shape and runs strong. I would also like to find a 95/96 Grand Cherokee Orvis Edition in the future and work on restoring that as well. Anyone else have simlar ideas or plans? |

Mine is stock. It is a limited, so it already has plenty of bells and whistles. One thing I do want to do is put a lift on it. I have heard the ride is better lifted than stock. The limited experience I have had in lifted libertys makes me think they are right. Other than that, I think I will upgrade some of the parts that are prone to failure, i.e. I am going to replace my brake lines with the longer ones. They are braided steel over rubber, so they should be better than stock. I am not big into modding out my cars anyway, mostly because of money constraints. |

A vehicle that is stock is just like a blank canvas waiting for the artist to apply his or her own colors to it. The KJ I kept stock longer than any others I have ever had. And that lasted about a week. At 105,000 you have to at least upgrade the suspension It has to be dragging the ground by now |

Good tips. I have looked at the small OME lift from RRO. I like OME, and do not want a huge lift on it. I know that I will need some new springs soon. Mine are sagging pretty badly. Overall I want to keep it mostly stock. After all it will be used mostly on the road. |

I planned on keeping it mostly stock, just adding some skid plates, cuz somebody didn't order it with them! Anyway, now with gas prices looming over 4.00 again, and the stock suspension dragging the ground for sure, (CV's point up instead of down now.) I am being torn apart by weighing the options of lifting with straight up OME, no additions, or just buying stock components, especially since I don't want to put on larger tires. If it rides fine for ya, keep it the way it is Just know that the longer you spend on a site like this, your gonna want to do stuff to it! |

Way better places to look than RRO look at jeepinbyal or AllJs Even on road with upgraded springs/shocks it will ride way better than it ever did stock |

Of course, the last guy who had it kept it in pretty good shape. He might have had OEM springs put in. |

Pretty typical almost an inch lower than stock height I've lifted some that were an inch lower at 85-90,000 |

I probably will do the OME small lift for the better ride, and getting the sag out, but other than that I think I might keep it stock. I did quite a bit to my Colly over the last few years. It was fun, but since I got this used I think I might bring it back to its original glory or close to it. |

I have an issue with stock vehicles no matter what I have to do something to them The KJ I bought just to drive, swore I would never do anything to it, due to it being a daily driver that I had to use on the job ( at that time) so wasn't going to go crazy like I had the last 100 or so

I'm keeping mine stock, though I'll try to upgrade here and there when parts break. I bought my Jeep as a reliable vehicle to road trip with, take me to hiking trailheads (in Alaska that can mean 4x4 required), and pack up all my necessities when I move (which is on a semi-regular basis these days). It has been great for all of those things. |
