ok info i have a 06 sport 3.7L auto, 112,000k. it sat for about 2 months and was not driven.. then drove it some with out the problem probably about 200 miles... the other night i was riding around on post... the speed limit does not get over 35..... the trans doesn't slip or shift hard or weird when it shifts...... but i noticed it at about 35-38 mph it would not shift out of 2nd gear it shift fine out of 1st, nice and smooth... but it would not shift out of second unless i hit the gas and let off completely real fast.... didnt think to much of it at first until it did it again 2 days later so i just tried putting it in neutral while rolling at about 25 mph ish. and returning it to drive. at that point it didnt go back in 2nd it went straight to 1st gear and was stuck there for and 2 miles then finally shifted into 2nd gear and still would not shift out of 2nd with out me throttling it out of it...... my ex claims to have had the trans fluid and filter replaced while i was deployed... but she also claimed she wasnt messing around on me... and i have always wrenched on my own vehicles and work for toyota and john deere... the fuild doesnt seem new.... so im unsure of where to start to look for this issue... or if i could run some seafoam through it for a few hundred miles and change the filters and fluid and ot would be fine???? any help would be greatly appreciated :D

Change fluids and filter first. See how that works out. Make sure you do the proper maintenance before making the trek home.

42rle only has 1 main sump filter. Does it have any codes? Is the check engine light on?

no... no codes at all. thats what leads me to believe that i might be able to get away with a fluid change which i still have not done yet cause i want to be sure of the possibilities it could be

ok i think i figured it out during a little test drive today.... rear e brake is dragging and smoking after about 5 mins of driving

Post subject:  Re: shifting problems

the parking brakes are dragging... chances of a cable not releasing? or hard ware failing....i put all new rotors, pads/shoes on it in jan with a front DS caliper, but i didnt replace the hardware because it was able to be found around here.... though i did just order the hard ware kit hopefully this will solve all my problems with shifting as well
