Do we know for sure what the Jeep lineup will be for 2013? Is the Patriot for sure getting axed?

I'm 99% sure the liberty is ending production this August. Also 99% sure the compass and patriot are being replaced with one vehicle.

As far as a simultaneous launch, don't know. Doesn't Marlon work for Jeep?

Supposedly, Jeep is going to launch the new 2013 Grand Wagoneer. The Grand Cherokee is coming out with a diesel. It sounds like the Liberty as we know it will be gone, and I’m not sure if they will even keep the Liberty name. If the Compass and Patriot both go, that sure doesn’t leave much left. Looks like the lineup will be something like this:

2013 Jeep Wrangler
2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
2013 Jeep Grand Wagoneer
2013 Jeep (Liberty replacement)
2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee (Gasoline and Diesel Option)

They're shutting down the liberty factory for 8-9 months starting in august to retool and set up to build the replacement. I think it'll come out as a 2014 model year

I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. I'm looking for another Jeep for my wife, something that will remain stock and be a daily commuter for her. Decisions, decisions.........

Compass will stay. Patriot will be replaced with the new Liberty. Even though it's going to be a CUV. Jeep is promising that the new Liberty is going to be a fully Trail Rated Jeep upholding current benchmarks. Whether that will actually be the case, who knows.

There are a ton of spy shots of the new Liberty on it's new running gear and chassis. Unfortunately, all of the pic's have it with a FIAT body shell on it and nobody has any idea of what it's really going to look like.

One thing we know for sure, is that it will have headlights, 4 doors and the 7 slot grill.

Here's a good article that explains the consolidation of the Compass and Patriot as well as some details on the platform.

Not for 2013, but I've heard rumblings about a diesel option for 2014.

I’m really having a hard time choosing the next Jeep. Safety and reliability are my #1 concern. My #2 concern is value (Total cost in relation to styling, usage, and fuel economy). My wife will be logging 100 miles per day, so fuel economy does factory in. A full time 4 wheel drive (or all wheel drive) option is a must.

If the Wrangler had a diesel option that was rated for 28 mpg gallon, then we wouldn’t be having this discussion. :banghead: It seems that Chrysler is in a serious transition period, and there probably won’t be any solid choices until 2014.

Does anyone really think that the new Liberty is going to be a 4 door hatchback? That is just a test mule for the drivetrain. The body is just something that was thrown on there.

I don’t know, I count the traditional 7 slot jeep grill in the picture above. Put it like this, when a select few were privileged to look at the new Jeep Liberty, there was a sigh of disappointment, noting that the jeep looked like a car.

More than likely, the jeep grille is on that mule to facilitate radiator / cooling tests. If you think about it, that's the only cosmetic section that has anything to do with mechanical function, the radiator grille.

I wouldn't worry too much about that. I'm worried more about FrontWD than it's final looks.

i just hope the 2013-2014 lineup isn't going to have whole futuristic feel.. i miss the offroad functionality and look of Jeeps. i'm not into headlights/taillights/etc. with crazy "space age" geometry.

Well I was hoping that the patriot being axed was just a rumor as I LOVE it over the compass by alot. Hell I was even considering getting one if gas got much worse a few years from now, but being axed maybe a clean diesel will emerge. But honestly with the styling thats going on at Jeep/chrysler and the stupid pricing they are setting for their models makes them far out of reach for me. A diesel unlimited wrangler would be AWESOME, but Im sure the starting price would be well into the $30k region....

But hey as long as they make parts for my WJ Ill be happy.

I would think a diesel wrangler would happen, especially as we align with global emissions. I guess we'll see what happens.

I saw an interview with the Jeep CEO from Easter Jeep Safari where he said the number 1 customer request is for a diesel option in the Rubicon. Once the emissions align there's no reason for them not to.
