Info.. 2005 sport, 3.7, 4x4, 123000 miles

Got into the jeep this morning and CEL was on and the code was P 0700. Drove it for probably 10 mins and couldn't really tell anything was wrong. So I disconnected the battery and let it set for the day. Started it up and she was shifting just fine but was noticing that my rpm's were a lot higher than they normally are going 55 mph, around 2000 rpms. So i got on the highway and at 70 mph they were 2500 rpms and she had no power, like the pedal was all the way to the floor. Well not but 4 mins on the highway the trans did two big oh clunks and slowed way down so i was pulled off on the side of the highway. I shut her off and started it back up and put it back into drive and it was acting as if she was in neutral until another big clunk and she sorta went into gear. But when I go, she acts as if i am trying to pull a semi with a full load (very sluggish). So i had her towed home until Monday.

Obviously I am not gonna be the one to repair it but i am just looking for suggestions on the what the possible cause could be. So i can explain to the mechanic what i think it is. Any help would be appreciated, don't really feel like having a mechanic tell me 100 things that are wrong when it's only two or three.

Adam

What kind of ATF used?

If not on the list in the link below you have the wrong ATF in and that could be the issue.

According to Transgo, the weak link in the 42RLE is the torque convertor. I’m not saying that’s your problem, I’m simply stating what Transgo told me when I installed my shift kit.
