I tried everything I could to get one from a dealer, no luck. The only part they could get is the flat piece with the two studs sticking out. The only way to get it on is to remove the bumper. The only wat to get the "M" bolt from the dealer is to buy the tow hooks. There is no part number for the "M" bolts. I wish I had better news for you. |

that's weird, 'cuz i've heard of a couple of other people (including the person who sold me their hooks) That the dealer quoted them on prices for the hooks... |

The first set of hooks I bought came without hardware. I tried 3 different dealers, and the only thing I could get was the factory replacements, which are those flat pieces with the two studs. I have some pics at home I can post later if you need. I was told the only way to get the "M" bolts was to buy the whole set. |

Try a good farm and home center. If you know the center to center distance for the m bolt you could get a suspension u style bolt. They make ones with a squared instead of round shape so it technically would'nt be a u-bolt. When you see them you'll know what I mean. If I get to the place tomorrow I will check what grade they are and size availability. |

I hope your luckier than me. There's a few problems: nobody sells the m bolt separately, nobody at a hardware or supply shop will know what you're talking about when you say "m bolt", u bolts and square bolts are not normally grade 8 standard, and the KJ's tow point mounting positions are in the most absurd, inaccessible spots. Now here's the good news... your KJ loves attention. Nothing will make her feel better than to work on her for a day, then take her out. Pop off that bumper! Then let me know if you could get it back on. I'm waiting for summer to put on my hooks. Good luck! |

I haven't installed my tow hooks yet, so forgive me for sounding foolish, but why can't normal grade 8 bolts be used? Why do you need the with that strange bend? Rick |

for my rear tow hook, i bought it used and was sent only 2 bolts for the mounting bracket to be put onto the frame. I do not have the nutzert (is this the same as a mbolt?) will it be a problem to use the tow hook with just 2 bolts instead of 3?? |

Not sure about rear hooks. As for the front, if you take off the bumper you can use grade 8 bolts or the factory mounting plate. If you don't remove the bumper, it will be very difficult (I say impossible) to get a grade 8 bolt through 2 of the 3 holes. The m bolt looks like a squared u bolt with a bend along the top and one post a bit shorter than the other. I believe its a Mopar part specific to Mopar's f'd design for KJ mount points. The m bolt's shape allows it to be fished up through one of the inaccesible holes and down the other. To really get a feel for this, grab some bolts, crawl under your KJ and try to mount them. You'll quickly understand that mopar doesn't love us. They would sell the m bolt separately if they did! There are some other posts on this site describing standard (non-KJ) hooks being mounted to the front, but they seem to require fab and bumper trimming. Kev |

I have the same dilema here got used hooks with hardware, not the m bolt style, but dont want to remove the bumper if I dont have to(call me lazy). Does anyone have a pic of the M bolt. I'm a Fedex driver and I deliver every day to a bolt and specialty fastener warehouse and I bet they might have some thing that works. If I could print a picture and take it to work I'll have them check, maybe I could get a bunch and send them out to those who need them. - Thanks Dave. |

I never dealt with them, but only heard good things about JParts. They're living up.... Ken K at Jparts (kenk@jparts.com) responded to my inquiry about mounting hardware for front tow hooks: > This is everything except the Tow Hooks. > > 2 'M' Bolts > 2 'Nutplates' > 2 'Bolts' > 4 'Nuts' > 1 'Instruction Sheet' > >.......$25.00 for the >towhook hardware kit. That would be your final price >plus shipping. This is what he quoted me. Details may change. I think this is EXACTLY what those of us who don't want to remove the front bumper to mount hooks are looking for. Ken stated he has a limited supply, so jump on this right away! Kev |

O.K. got the M bolt hardwareand started to install it. Slipped the M bolt in and snapped in the nut clip. Great I thought this should be easy.... as I started to line up the the tow hook the M bolt whent up inside the frame and was hanging on by a thread. My 11 year old son, who was helping, said let me get it I have smaller hands so I moved aside and he reached in. Next thing I hear is TINK; the M bolt is lost forever inside the frame. I took a deep breath and said its not your fault. Needless to say I tried to fish it out for about 15 minutes...no luck. Any ideas what to do without spending $25.00 on another set of hardware? Thanks-Dave |
