Post subject:  Question about cv's.

When putting the lift on, after I pop the upper balljoint loose and drop the lower A arm, will it hurt the cv's to let it drop all the way down. When I did that the boot looked like it was going to come off and I was afraid if I let it come out to far it may mess it up. The ball bearings cant fall out or anything can they? After I dropped it down I went to the other side and started working and turned the wheel some and heard the other side make a weird pop, this was with it still dropped down.

The reason I ask this is b/c sometimes when Im backing up in the mornings, I hear a poping sounds with the wheel cranked all the way. Im just wondering. I put the lift on over 3 months ago. Thanks.

Use some wire to tie it up. You need to be more concerned about your break lines than your CVs. BTW, the CV boot is on there pretty good and isn't going to just pop off...it would tear first. :?

Any chance that popping sound is your tires catching the wheel well liners? That is common on some KJ's after lift/larger tires are installed.

i would check to see if the tires are are rubbing
most likely you springs have settled some
besides the old man emu lift is only good for 40mm or 1.75 inches i think

So letting it drop down as far as it will go cannot hurt the cv's? Right?

I hope the brake line was not the only thing holding it up.
