I’ve never had battery terminal corrosion on any vehicle, but I’m fighting battery terminal corrosion on my Cherokee. After a month of cleaning, the terminals are corroded again. I’m using a 50/50 mix of water and baking soda and a toothbrush to clean with, which is working well. I need some type of terminal maintenance and was wondering what any of you recommend. I’ve heard of people using petroleum jelly but I haven’t personally tried using anything yet. It would seem that petroleum jelly would attract a lot of dust. Are there any other suggestions?

Getting a quality battery and using the terminal spray.

That did cross my mind. The battery was already in the Jeep when I bought it 3 years ago. I just went outside and looked to see if I could identify the age of the battery. It's a wal-mart battery with a sticker that indicates it was shipped in November of 2008. For the sake of simple math, I'm going to assume that the battery was installed in December of 2008. That would make the battery approximately 3.5 years old. I'm sure the battery still has a fair amount of life left in it, but I'm almost annoyed enough to go ahead and swap it out for the DieHard Platinum P1 Group 34 AGM. Image

amazingly enough those little red and green felt circle pads have worked wonders for me, along with the terminal spray.

I have those felt pads on my CRD's Autocraft Gold lead acid battery since I replaced the OEM red top in like November 2009 and no corrosion at all.

From my understanding, batteries typically wont corrode unless they are leaking acid from the inside. For this reason, I like the AGM batteries since they wont corrode.
