Has anyone added a locking gas cap to their KJ/KK, if so, let me know where you got it. I know that Wal-Mart sells them, but I’m not sure about the brand quality. Does Chrysler/Jeep make one that will work with the factory ignition key? |

Speeds, car quest . Local parts store. MOPAR did have one I think it was keyed alike, but was like 65 dollars. I don't like mine all that much, but I don't have to worry about tampering. |

Saw an interesting idea on an old episode of 'Overhaulin' yesterday. Fuel door & cap were replaced with aircraft style locking cover. Looking online as we speak (so to speak) for the necessary parts. |

It's harder to turn the key and the cap, while pushing down. Cap isn't leashed to Jeep so I usually put it on the pump, easy way to forget your cap! I probably have to many keys too. I'd like the idea of keyed alike locking gas door. Just like rear vent windows, should have came with from factory. |

Locking caps that use the ignition key came standard with the KJs here in South Africa.....as does the SKIS system and intruder alarm. Says a lot about security in this country. |

I'll probably go with the Mopar locking gas cap since they have the strap that ties itself to the hinged gas cap door. I have one on my Dodge diesel truck and it works flawlessly, plus it uses the matching ignition key. I very rarely shut off my diesel when I fill up, so I made a spare key. The Mopar locking gas cap is a very smooth "effortless" unlocking mechanism. I've seen people using the cheaper generic locking gas caps and they seem to have more difficulty using them, and like you said, they don’t always have a good place to put them while filling. Thanks Cherrie, you helped me make up my mind. |

I've seen alot of issues with those locking caps not sealing right and tripping the check engine light. For how much they cost and the real need to change them often just doesn't add up.Besides ain't siphoning gas out of a KJ's gas tank anyway. |

Never mentioned siphoning, but tampering is why I have a locking gas cap. Got my 08KK used in 09 and got my locking gas cap soon after, no issues yet. Oops I meant to move to South Africa. |

I got one for my KJ at advance auto parts last year when I had a tenant problem. I had to evict them for non payment of rents and didn't want to leave myself open to any possible tampering they might have done in retaliation for me just doing business and getting freeloaders out. my KJ is a Crd and they even were able to order a green one for it that says DIESEL in big white letters.... it was cheaper than the gas version too. only problem is it does not tether to the fuel door like the OEM one did. I just put it on the pump with my keys in it that way I can't drive off with out it. I also got one for my partners WJ overland that one has a place in the gas door the cap can hang on. wish the KJ had that. Both caps were the Stant brand that I think is an old respected brand..... they are working fine |
