Post subject:  EVIC Temperature reading

Yes, I know...... it's been asked a few hundred times already.
I've read thru many of the previous posts, and found no solution, so I will ask again.

I have a 2004 Liberty. It had no overhead console when I got it.
I added an OTIS unit about a year ago. The Ambient Temp reading always registered as "--".
I attributed this to the fact that the OTIS I installed was from an '05. (I was told.)

Yesterday I installed an EVIC I recently acquired from a fellow forum member.
He had installed it on his '04, and the Ambient Temp reading worked, so I was hopeful
that it would work in mine. After installation, and recalibration of the compass, etc., the
Ambient Temp still reads "--".

This morning, I replaced the sensor, thinking it might be defective. No change.

Have I missed something??
Are there other things I should check??
Since my Liberty didn't come with an EVIC, do I need to reflash my PCM??
Will the Ambient Temp reading come on eventually??? (I have only driven it about 15 miles or so since installation.)

I'm out of ideas at this point.

Hmmm....very curious problem. What's the p/n of the Otis/EVIC you installed?

I was able to find & install an 04 EVIC in my 04 Liberty Sport without any trouble.

P/N = 56042749AB
As I said, the forum member I got it from installed it on his '04 with no trouble.
His research puts the EVIC at '01 (which vehicle I don't know).

Gonna double check my wiring next weekend.
Perhaps solder the connections under the dash.
I soldered the connections at the EVIC end, so.......
