| Post subject: | Question about replacing a fog light bulb on '05 Renne? |
Hey everybody, this is my first post on this new board, so we'll see how it goes... A few weeks ago I cracked the plastic lens on one of my fog lights, this resulted in either shorting out, or cracking the bulb itself. My question is whether or not I can fit an aftermarket bulb in there? The OEM foggies aren't that bright, and since my Renne didn't come with the light bar I would like to have the option to really light up the trail/road ahead. I have looked into a few different aftermarket bulbs, but I don't wanna buy something if it won't fit. This is my first SUV, (I have been more of a sport compact guy in the past) so I wanna do things right the first time. Thanks for any info! |

Sorry, dont know off the top of my head, haven't had to change mine yet. Did you check the owner's manual to see if the bulb type is listed in there? Most likely you can easily find an aftermarket bulb to fit your needs. |

You can go to an auto parts store and look in the catalog and they will give you the type of bulbs that will work. Yes, you can get a slightly better bulb but it's not going to be very noticeable. Instead, if you want increase lighting look into getting an extra set of driving lights such as hella 500 or similar (around $65 for 2 includes bulbs). This make a VERY NOTICEABLE difference. Good luck. |

Thanks for the tip! I looked into the hella 500, it's good light for a decent price too. I'm seriously considering doing it, any idea how hard it would be to mount on the bumper? I would love to get some lights on the roof (my renny didn't come with the light bar) but I don't have much money to spend on lights, so a few more on the bumper might be my only option... |

I have a similar problem. I have PIAA fog/driving lights (super bright w/ 85W bulbs) that I want to mount on the front bumper. Has anyone removed the factory bumper mounted fog lights? I would like to use same bolt location. Do I have to remove front bumper to get old lights off? Probably will have issues bolting new ones on without removing bumper. ANY IDEAS John 05 Rene Offroad package 05 Mopar roof rack SuperFlow Air Compressor (under back seat currently) mag light mount on frontseat rail |

I also have a 05 Renegade. Fog lights look like a Hella brand light to me. Check their cataloge or check on line. |

See this link: http://www.jeepprojects.com/content.php?article.43 John ];') Sorry, but that article is for the fogs that are mounted low in the front bumper. The 05/06 Renegade have the ones mounted out on top on the bumper and in front of the grill.. The PN: is just the plain old H3/55W. Now You can upgrade to the H3/100W. You can get just about any were. Even Wally World. Skymech |

The bulbs in there are 9004's i believe. some people have gotten the 9005's and trimmed them down some to fit in there. Probibally the best bet is to get a new set of lights and try to fit them on where the stock ones came from. |

HUmmmmm i just checked my SM and it said "H3". But then you just take the bulb out and check it for your self. Skymech |
