Hi, My KJ has just decided to though up a bit of message that make no sense - "Hood Open" when it isn't. It happend yesterday evening on the motorway when I was doing about 80mph and hasn't gone away. I stopped opened and shut the bonnet but the warning sign is still one as you can see ... ![]() Coluld this be what I need to change? and is it only that?! What is the part number please? ![]() other sympton that was started up again is the KJ Alarms keeps going off randomly (2 am isn't funny for the neighbours). The allarm has been going off randomly during the summer but lately with the colder temperatures it had stopped thankfully. Any Ideas? Also with reference to the KJ Allarm is there a way to find out is there is a fault with any sensor and get it replaced? my neighbours would love you all and specially my wife. Fil. |

Hi Fil Yep that's the part - happened to me a few years ago - anything over 70 - hood open! I can't recall the part no, but it is on the fiche at http://colorado4wheel.com/manuals/Jeep/KJ/ Can't help on the alarm - mine sometimes goes off if someone drives too fast past the parked KJ. Again - there may be something on the parts fiche of manual? |

Just an idea, but the alarm going off may also be due to the bonnet switch. |

Hi, Well this morning I started the KJ and EVIC looked to be okay but within 2 min of driving the Jeep it started up. Over night I locked the it without the Alarm on and it didn't go off over night, this morning at work I set the alarm on and within 30 min it started sounding. I am going to go to the breakers yard round the corner and see if I can get a used one for now and see if it fixes the problem. No point trying to get one from the Jeep dealer over Christmas it won't arrive until the New Year for sure. I will keep you posted. Adrian thank you i also found what the part no. is 04707875AB, that is Jeep hasn't changed it over time. Fil. |

You can also try shorting out or disconnecting the switch....one of the two will set the Hood Open error permanently and the other will disable the sensing of the hood open altogether! |

If you can't find the part. just take the leads from back of the switch and connect them with some sort of a jumper. When the switch is in the up position, it's open. |

Yeah that is what I was trying to say but I was too lazy to check out on my 2002 CRD whether it needed to be open or shorted |

Hi, bought the news switch and fitted it this morning and nothing has changed. The EVIC still shows Hood Open and the allarm goes off within 15/20 min of locking the KJ. So what next please? Specially on the allarm part I just don't want to end up with a brink through my windows at some point because the neighbours have got "Pi** **f" with it going off at all hours. Does anyone know how I can disable at least the siren? how I get to un plug it? Also does anyone know if the Jeep dealer can plug in and check if a sensor is brocken? I just don't want to take it there and spend a furtune for no result. ![]() Fil. |

Sounds like you have a broken wire somewhere coming from your switch. The Black/White wire is supposed to go to ground....try connecting a piece of wire to a clean chassis/engine point and splice this wire onto the Black/White wire and see what happens. Now short these wires to the Brown/Tan wire and see what happens. If that does not help, trace the Brown/Tan wire. It goes through connector C100 pin 13 and then to the BCM pin C1. The BCM sits behind the interior fuse panel...locate this Brown/Tan wire on pin C1 and stick a small pin through the insulation...try grounding this pin now with a section of wire to a clean ground point. If your siren being used is actually the "horns" then pull out the horn relay or fuse 3 (15 A) in the interior fuse panel...this will disable the horn naturally. If it uses a seperate "siren" then it looks to me that pulling fuse 34 (15 A) will kill the siren. |

Make sure you don't have a bad battery. A weak battery can also cause problems such as the alarm going off, etc. |

@ Bill: Thank you I will have a go and see what happens, at least for the siren for now @ Diesel: Battery is less than a year old and this has been an ongoing think even with a Brand New Battery, now it's compounded as the Hood Switch is not working. Fil. |
