Like I said I'm putting on the tcase skid + gas tank skid today. I’m waiting on my hitch to dry (I painted it), so I figured I would go ahead and show some pics.

When putting the nutzerts in, be sure not to over tighten them, 25-30ft-lbs is all it takes. I almost over tightened one of mine and it started to strip. The same goes when putting the bolts in holding the skid up, I only torqued mine to 25lbs b/c I couldn’t feel it getting any tighter.

The part that the tcase skid covers.

This is the tool that is used for installing the nutzerks. The nutzert is already in the hole.

I could'nt hold a wrench, ratchet, and take a pic all at the same time. This is where the wrench goes, hold it steady and tighten the bolt on the bottom to 25-30ftlbs. After you have tightened it, back it back out using the bolt, not the wrench on the side.

Two of my 3 nutzerks, the 2004's evidently only have 3 holes that line up? And I really do not feel like drilling a hole today, Ill leave it be.

This is the hole, that doesnt have a hole. lol, poor guy.

My skid-row is complete! Isnt it purty!

Ill show the gas tank skid once I get it on.

I think that's a misprint. The skid changed in 2005, so 2004 couldn't possibly fit unless it had an extra hole drilled. Most people just drill the hole for the whole that doesn't line up. Just remember to use grade 8 hardware.

nice jeep family, i see a ZJ and an XJ as well.....i used to have an XJ, till she got sick and had to go away for good (weep). anyways, ive got a question: yall say tighten to 25-30ft-lbs.......how do you know how tight that is. i've just got a standard socket wrench. is there a special one for relatively cheap that allows me to set the torque on it?

Goto Sears and get a Torque Wrench. You will need it eventually, and they dont cost that much ~$30 or so.

We love our jeeps! Thats for sure.

In my last pic you can see my cheap torque wrench, it does the job for putting on a lift or skids and crap like that.

I recommend replacing the nutzert bolts on the Xmember with long self tappers that go into the actual Xmember metal. The first rock my girlfriends skid hit, it came loose with those nutzert things!! You can put it on there much better without those stupid nutzerts!! We kept the nutzerts in the framerail...they should do for now...it's the Xmember that takes most of the hard hits.

for the gastank skid-

If you're using the factory hardware (which I recommend that you don't), I would take the stupid blue loctite off before installing. I didn't have the extensions to impact gun them in, so tried to air rachet them in...but they take too much force to turn with the blue junk on there!! It takes forever with hand tools to tighten the bolts with the blue stuff. We removed it with a lock pick set, and they went in much better. I don't remember the exact size of the bolts...we did go get some extras, and they were metric...I forget if they were 10 or 14, but I'm pretty sure the pitch was 1.75...it wasn't one of the more common threads, i remember that much!
