Can anyone tell me the difference between these two eaton products?

they both have the same part number 912A585 and both are described as Detroit Truetrac DANA 30 LSD 3.73 and up

I believe that the fist one is an older version and the second one is the latest version.
Can any one confirm this?

I can't absolutely confirm what they are but I can say that there are more than one style of Dana 30. Manufacturers will put up pictures of a similar product under a description that may not be the exact part but the same model for a different application. The lower one is a cut-away to show how they're built. You won't see the gears on a functional DTT, they look more like the top pic. :2cents:

Are you putting one in both axels? I'm just about ready to regear and planned to put a DTT up front and a Detroit locker in the rear. The mechanic advised against the locker after finding out I tow my camper. He seems to think there will be problems. Anyone hear that before?

I'm doing the front only. Got an ARB on the rear axle.
Why would towinh affect your setup?
