| Post subject: | All J Products Interior Rack |
Has anyone picked up one of the new interior racks from all J yet? I am wondering how it mounts. I am thinking I could use this to hold down my sub box and amp rack and have cargo space again. Thanks |

It's an awesome rack, there are a a bunch of us that have it. If you scroll down to the "Troy's Toys" forum, you'll find a posting in there about the rack. |

The front of the rack mounts to the rear seat back mounts and you have to drill through the rear, side plastic interior to get to the steel body to install a nutzert. After initial installation, its easy to remove. If you need more info let me know |

You can call it nuts but the rack is outstanding. It is very solid and really holds tons of stuff. For the real off roader as well...it keeps suff under the rack in case of a tip over. I love the rack and it was a great investment for me...Later...Clint |

Agreed it's a great tool, if I flipped over the stuff inside my Jeep wouldn't really matter IMO, I just figured there is no way that the rack cost them 1/3 of that to make. If they made it a little more affordable (even for the mild offroader) they would have better sales. |

If your fire extinguisher or something else came flying up and hit you in the back of your head, it would matter. |

I am not picking on anyone but I would like to say...I hear folks all the time say they could build something for a lot less. Yea they might be able to make something for a lot less but it would not even come close to some of the products the vendor are selling. Let's talk just about this rack for an example. This is laser cut, 12 gauge steel, has over 22 slots cut for tie downs, all corners and edges are folded, powder coated, has very solid mounts that still allow the seats to fold and can also be removed in just a couple of minutes if needed. it looks great, can handle very heavy loads and fit just right.... if someone out there can make a rack like this, that has all these features, looks as good as this one, handles the loads like it, can be removed, and fits any KJ you install it in, has the same fit and finish, is not some POS plywood thing with hose clamps holding it in...Please let me know and I will by one from ya... But just FYI...I already have the nice one from All J Products. Later...clint |

Most products don't cost that much to make, once they are designed, but R&D time and build time can't be overlooked. How much do you make per hour? How long would it take to measure, draw, design, build, redesign and rebuild after things don't work the first time, and then add cost of materials and wear and tear on machinery. As a fabricator myself, I hear a lot of people complain about prices and they can do it cheaper. I don't work for free, and neither do the guys at AllJ. I have seen this rack, wish I had one for the XJ, but it is very well built and extremely sturdy, and if I made them, I would easily charge a little more for them. $255 is a dang good price for the strength and quality of that rack. Wish I could talk them into doing some for XJ's, cause those guys would probably be all over them. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the do it yourselfer that can build their own stuff, but most people don't have the time, materials, tools, or money to do things themselves, and knocking the price a company has listed because the same product could easily be built at home for 1/3 the cost is irrelevant and really has no place in this discussion. I'm not trying to sound like a jerk, but I would love to see someone make just ONE rack exactly like this one for 1/3 the price. |

Another thing to add is that it is a good security feature. Now to steal stuff out of the back, the theif must now fold down my rear seats and break my rear glass instead of just shattering my glass and grabbing and running. This way it will take them more time, and gives me a better chance to catch them and beat the snot out of them... |

Oh, And I never said i could build it at home thanks You insinuated it, but the point is that the price is the price, if you dont think it's work the price then dont buy it. I bought the frankenlift not because it's so expensive, but because i thought it was worth it's price. That rack is on my list b/c it's better than the grocery getting one i got from the factory...and it's way more expensive and only holds a few pounds, and costs $186 from jparts, and IMO is not worth that... |

No I just said that it probably didn't cost 1/3 of the selling price. People got needlesly offended and put words in my mouth........my point is you guys actually wheel up there so to you it's worth it. My statement is that for me (florida mud, not mountains) it's too expensive. Again IMO |
