| Post subject: | My Computer Was Dumb? |
Well, for a few weeks I noticed reduced performance and haggle sound when accelerating. I took it to the dealership and asked them to check it out. Im not surprised that they said it was fine. (it ran better for the remainder of the tank of gas I had). Whatever improvements were short lived. Makes me think they added feul treatment or cleaner to get me out the door. Well, after about 1500 miles I found what looks like 'wet fouling' slightly greasy thick black soot in and around the end of the tailpipe. So, the engine has been like this until last weekend. I was here reading the Speedo Recalibration discussion...Someone mentioned that the Computer can get too smart for its own good and removing the battery cables and letting it sit for an hour will reset it. I did it. So, this week a I have made a few short trips and noticed that my Liberty feels like it has tons more power. I guess it has worked a least for the short term. Now, among the functions the Computer performs.. timing, spark, amount of feul to squirt, etc. etc. Would anything non-computer be left that might need to be corrected that could have been damaged or the cause during the 1500 miles? I notice that during this week's first morning startup I hear a bearing noise. Kinda like a dry bearing noise for a while (1st ten minutes). 6200 miles on my Liberty. I make short trips to/from work everyday. I think this problem may have started with a bad tank of gas. Any thoughts? |
