First off, new to the forum. Can't wait to get into it more. Bought a 2010 Liberty Renegade this past summer that had only 4,500 miles on it. Currently has 20,000.

I have been hearing and slightly feeling a noise on the driver side shortly after putting the Jeep in drive. It feels like it's right below my feet around the transfer case area (I believe). It is a quick "thud-thud-thud-thud-thud" that can faintly be heard and felt from the floor only. Passengers never hear it and it can't be felt through the brake/gas pedals or the steering wheel.

I've climbed underneath several times but haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary. I've seem similar threads about front end noise but they are hearing/feeling stuff from the passenger side only and it's a constant noise/sound.

Any ideas?

I'm not speaking from experience, but I've read many times that noises like yours often turn out to be the a bad rear cv on the front driveshaft (the transfer case end). The rubber boot gets a hole, then road grime gets in and kills the cv joint. Search for that in the 4x4 section (it will be mostly KJ's but the front end is basically the same in the KK) to find out how to check for it and what part to order if the cv is bad. If this is your problem, you won't need a whole new driveshaft, just the cv end. And welcome to LOST! :JEEPIN:

Thanks for this.

I did some more testing and concluded that it's only when I park the vehicle for longer than an hour and only happens once. The noise/feeling starts around 15mph, does it's 5 thud course then stops. I can't imagine that I'd already need a new cv end after only 16,000 miles .
