My 2003 Liberty has gray bumpers and flares and they are weathered so I was thinking of painting it black so I went to a shop and was appraised $1100 for it. Ouch. any other ideas or should I do it or not.

I used rustoleum bumper & trim paint for plastic in a rattle can. It did a really good job. I painted them last July, and when I did a repair and needed to sand the repair, I noticed that I had to sand them pretty good till I got through the paint to the gray plastic.

If you paint them on the vehicle like I did you have to be meticulous with taping things off. I would recommend taking off the removable parts to paint.

The Rustoleum is around $6 a can, krylon makes a good plastic paint also but it has a much glossier finish in black. I think I had $25 in paint. Make sure to get all wax off the plastic.

Plastidip. I did all my fenders and roof. I love it and easy to repair. Did it all for about $60 (7 a can). I will post pics shortly...
