I have a 2006 Jeep Liberty Sport, approximately 92,000 miles. Once it gets warm here in NY state, the Jeep begins to make a thunk/popping noise when braking. It only happens once when braking, and not all the time, especially when you take it easy. I have replaced u-joints, sway bar bushings, end link bushings, and strut bushings. Still it presists. My dad says to try calipers...from what I have read, I think motor mounts, at least the passanger side, may be the way to go?

What do you guys think?
thanks

Check the ball joint on your rear control arm (wishbone). If the boot is gone or ripped, I'd bet that's your problem

Does it accompany a downshift? I have had a clunk for years due to some play in the rear axle (the pinion shaft is loose in the carrier). This can also give me a clunk on the 1-2 shift if I happen to let up on the throttle.
